The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) is a principal arm of the Government of India, advancing research and innovation across climate science, oceanography, seismology and weather forecasting. Through premier institutions such as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), MoES strengthens national resilience, informs policy, and expands ecological knowledge critical to sustainable development.
For World Earth Day 2025, Roopaantar partnered with MoES to leverage the Ministry’s scientific outreach and communication expertise to promote environmental awareness at the grassroots. The collaboration combined authoritative scientific messaging with community‑centric programming to engage diverse audiences across aspirational and tribal blocks, translating complex climate and ocean science into accessible, actionable guidance.
This partnership exemplifies how scientific insight and grassroots action can converge to foster community engagement and climate stewardship. Joint activities—public workshops, awareness drives, and local capacity‑building—reinforced MoES’s observance of national and international environmental days while empowering communities to adopt resilient, sustainable practices for long‑term ecological well‑being.
